Dear Husband, Thank You

Dear Husband,

When I was a girl, I played “House” with all my dolls. There was a mom and a dad, 2 kids and a dog, a cute house and a big yard. They went on all kinds of adventures. I dreamed I would have that life.

Then I found out that adulthood is not all rainbows and glitter. My first decade as an adult was pretty rough - I made a lot of choices that had difficult consequences. I learned so many lessons. At the time, I couldn’t see that every lesson was preparation for you, for us. I have told you before: it was Divine timing when we met. I would not have been able to love you the way I do had it been any earlier.

I took a moment to look at my life today...it's the life I dreamed about all those years ago.

I have it all.

Girl playing house with doll, gratitude, marriage, happiness

And not just that: I have MORE than I ever dreamed. I am the mom and you are the dad. We have two amazing kids and a big, brown dog. We spend time together in our cute house and in our big backyard, which is filled with busy garden beds, ducks, and bunnies. We even have a cat (I’m still wrapping my head around that one!). We have love and laughter and so much more.

Your love and support have allowed me to grow and blossom in ways I didn’t even know I needed. I continue to learn more about myself, more about what a healthy marriage is, more about joy. Thank you for being by my side, believing in me, inspiring me.

I took a different path than I thought I would, but I made it. WE made it.

The best part? I feel like we're just getting started having all of our adventures together.

I love you.

Your wife, Alexandra Kay
